Prof.Ciriaka Gitonga Provides strategic leadership and coordination for the HERI-Africa Research Chairs in Kenya, supporting research, capacity building, educational innovation and collaboration across participating institutions.
Prof. Ciriaka is an education specialist, educational psychologist and leader with over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, educational leadership and policy engagement. She previously served as the Registrar (Planning, Administration and Finance) and Dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences at the University of Embu. She currently chairs the Education Deans Forum – Kenya and has held several leadership positions in public and private institutions of higher learning. At the national level, she served in the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms in Kenya, where she chaired the Sub-Committee on Teacher Education and Management Reforms. Her scholarly interests include teacher education, educational psychology, educational leadership, learner engagement, parental involvement, career development and educational technology.
